Palmetto - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Rita Gail LeDoux Macip, age 63, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2016, in the St. Thomas Catholic Church in Palmetto, LA. Reverend James Nguyen will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal will take place in the church cemetery. The reader will be Murphy LeDoux Jr.
Mrs. Macip a resident of Palmetto, LA, passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2016, at Opelousas General Health System.
In 1977, Rita married her high school sweetheart, George Macip. She was a beautician for over 30 years. She loved playing Pokeno, eating boiled crawfish and spending time with her friends and family. She enjoyed the outdoors, riding four-wheelers and camping. Rita was a member of the St. Thomas Church Council, the Ladies Altar Society and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She drove a bus for St. Joseph Catholic School and for the St. Landry Parish School System for years. Rita will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her husband of 38 years, George Macip; her sons, Christopher Macip; Kevin Macip and wife Danielle; her mother, Mildred Morain LeDoux; her siblings, Murphy LeDoux Jr. (Kim); Gwendolyn LeDoux Mayhall (Greg) and multiple aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Murphy LeDoux Sr., her sister, Patricia LeDoux August; her maternal grandparents, Charles and Hilda Morain; her paternal grandparents, Elie and Alice LeDoux; her father and mother-in-law, Curley and Salonia Boudreaux Macip; her brother-in-law, Frank Russell Macip; her sister-in-law, Martha Jean Macip Monaco and Niece Kristy Macip Neely.
Visitation will be held at the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Friday, March 11, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. A rosary will be prayed on Friday at 7:00 p.m. by Reverend Austin Leger. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday until time of services.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Macip, Kevin McCauley, Randy Gerace, Lance Firmin, Jason Hutchins, Evan LeDoux and Nathan Hickman.
