Rena Guidry

Opelousas A Mass of Christian Burial for Rena Castille Guidry, age 90, will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church followed by interment in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery in Opelousas, La. Reverend Paul Bienvenu will officiate the services.

Mrs. Guidry, a native of Cankton, La. and a resident of Opelousas for 62 years, died at the AcadiaSt. Landry Guest Home in Church Point, La. at 10:44 p.m. on Tuesday, January 19, 2010.

Rena enjoyed working in her yard and especially cooking Sunday meals. She will be missed dearly by all who loved her.

She is survived by her daughters, Jeanette Parker of Theodore, Alabama Elaine Parker and husband, Philip, of Theodore, Alabama Becky Andrepont and husband, Scott, of Opelousas, La. a daughterinlaw, Connie S. Guidry of Opelousas, La. her sisters, Lita Culotta of Opelousas, La. and Thelma Guidry of Alexandria, La. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 22 greatgrandchildren and 1 greatgreatgrandchild.

She was preceded in death by husband, Ewell Paul Guidry her parents, Edward Joseph and Coralee Mouton Castille her son, Kenneth Guidry her brothers, Elrick Castille, Wilbert Castille and her greatgranddaughter, Caitlyn Scerri.

A special thanks goes to Medsource and St. Landry Home Care, especially, Carrie Leday, Ida Oakley, Rebecca Henry and Wendy Freeman.

Pallbearers will be: Ronald Guidry, Todd Parker, John Parker, Vernon Parker, Gregory Barnhill and Scott Andrepont. Honorary pallbearers will be: Clayton Guidry, Jimmy Hebert and Nathan Andrepont.

Visiting hours will be observed in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Friday, January 22, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and will reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 23, 2010 until time of service. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
