Rena Duplechain

Opelousas A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Rena Chautin Duplechain, the former Rena Marie Chautin, age 94, at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 12, 2011 in the Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park. The Reverend Austin Leger will be the celebrant of the Mass.

Mrs. Duplechain, who was a native of Leonville and resident of Opelousas, died on Thursday, February 10, 2011 at Opelousas General Health System.

She was a loving wife and mother who was devoted to her family, friends and church. Rena enjoyed reading and loved cooking for her family. She was very wise and always had words of wisdom. She will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her son, Rhyn Duplechain and wife, Glenda, of Opelousas, La. her daughter, Priscilla Ann Duplechain of Opelousas, La. and her brother, Healy Chautin of Lafayette, La. She is also survived by 3 grandchildren, Garett Duplechain and wife, Lia, of Opelousas, La. Deonne Duplechain of Opelousas, La. Christine Duplechain Sylvester and husband, Michael, of Opelousas, La. and 6 greatgrandchildren, Ethan, Evan, Elizabeth, Ann Marie, Marilyn and Rhyn Patrick.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Duplechain her parents, Andre and Ida Moreau Chautin, her brothers, Alexander, Clebert, Edward, Leonce, Andrew and Gilbert Chautin her sisters, Ida Myers, Emma Bodin, Linda Guidroz and Virginia Chautin. She is also preceded in death by her father and motherinlaw, Oscar and Louise Duplechain to whom she had a wonderful relationship.

The family would like to thank Ms. Ann and Ms. Laura and an extended thanks to her caregiver and friend, Mary Murphy.

Pallbearers will be: Ethan Moody, Evan Moody, Michael Sylvester, Vernon Devillier, Jules Bodin, Roger Chautin, Rhyn Duplechain and Garett Duplechain.

Visiting hours will be observed in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on February 11, 2011 from 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and will reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday until time of service. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
