Opelousas - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Reine Mae Stelly Richard at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 5, 2021, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Opelousas.  Rev. Fr. Gregory Simien will celebrate the Mass.  Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery in Opelousas, LA.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 4, 2021, from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas.  A Remembrance Service will be held at 5:30 p.m. and the Rosary will be prayed on 6:00 p.m. on Friday evening in the funeral home.  Visitation will continue in the funeral home on Saturday, June 5, 2021, from 8:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Reine Mae Stelly Richard, age 88, on Saturday, May 29, 2021, at Senior Village Nursing Home of Opelousas, LA.

Reine loved reading people's fortunes and advising others. She worked for over 40 years at Reine's House of Healing in Opelousas.  She received her Doctor of Divinity Certificate of Doctorate in 1976 from the School of Occult Science LA.

Her daily routine was being prim and properly dressed for any occasion.  She enjoyed traveling around the world, sightseeing, and going to the casinos.  She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family especially at family gatherings at her house on Sundays.  As a pastime, she enjoyed tending to her two favorite cats, Sly and NuNu; and her puppy, Prince.  She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her from her kindness and generosity.

She is survived by her son, John Aubrey Richard; her daughter, Darlene Richard-Castille (Carl Castille); and two sisters, Georgie "Jane" Stelly and Gloria Taylor.  She is also survived by eight grandchildren: John Saint James Richard, Freddie James Richard, Elvis Aaron Richard, Thomas Richard, Amanda Richard, Virgil Cane Richard, Martin Dale Richard, Jr. and Lillyanna Alida Richard; fifteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Richard; parents, Clement Stelly and Leah Hollier Stelly; granddaughter, Elena Reine Thibodeaux; brothers, George Stelly, Emery Stelly, Wilman Stelly, Patrick Stelly, Joseph Stelly, Norman Stelly, and Patrick Stelly; sisters, Doris Arnaud, Mary Joyce Richard, and Etheline Stelly; and daughter-in-law, Bonnie B. Richard.

Pallbearers will be Freddie Richard, Elvis Richard, Thomas Richard, Virgil Richard, Martin Dale Richard, Jr., and Tristan Richard.  Honorary pallbearers will be John Saint James Richard and Carl Castille.

The family would like to send a special thank you to Heart of Hospice, her nurse Jessica, and Chaplain Rachelle Brown for their wonderful care given to Mrs. Reine during her time of need.
