Raymond Pitre

Opelousas- A Mass of Christian Burial will celebrated for Mr. Raymond Pitre, age 80, at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, October 9, 2009 in the Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, followed by interment in the Bellevue Memorial Park. The Reverend Paul Bienvenu will be the Celebrant.

Mr. Pitre, who was a native and lifelong resident of Opelousas, died on the morning of Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at his residence.

Mr. Pitre was retired school bus driver and a retired employee of the St. Landry Parish School Board. He loved spending time with family and friends, but he had a special place in his heart for his beautiful grandchildren. Those who knew and loved him will sadly miss him.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mrs. Iris Vidrine Pitre of Opelousas; a son, Michael K. Pitre and wife Wendy of Opelousas; a daughter, Rebecca Pitre Wilson of Smyrna, GA; a brother, James Linwood Pitre and wife Celia of Ville Platte; one nephew, Chad Pitre; four grandchildren, Tammy W. Spain, Paula Deal and husband Brady, Michaela M. Pitre and Matthew M. Pitre; six great grandchildren, Kaylee Wilson, Parker Spain, Peyton Spain, Leah Spain, Kyler Spain and Easton Deal.

Mr. Pitre was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Rose Ledoux Pitre and his mother and father in law Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Vidrine.

Mr. Pitres pallbearers will be Chad Pitre, Ronald Pitre, Kyle Pitre, J.F. Vidrine, Brady Deal, Donald Dupre, and Matthew M. Pitre.

Visiting will be held in the LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home on Thursday, October 8, 2009, from 3:00 p.m. 10:00 p.m. and will re-open on Friday at 8:00 a.m. until service time. A rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
