Raymond Herpin

Funeral services for Raymond A. Beedy Herpin will be Wednesday December 6, 2006 at 11:00am in the St. Landry Catholic Church. Monsignor Louis Melancon will officiate. Concelebrants will be Fr. Paul Thibodeaux and Fr. Jules Speyrer. Music will be by Glyn Schwartzenburg. Musical selections will be Old Rugged Cross, Be Not Afraid, On Eagles Wings and the Battle Hymn of the Republic. Readers will be Rodney Bernard and Carl Fontenot. Gift Bearers will be Christine Ryder and Bonnie Darbonne. Pallbearers will be Randy Herpin, Freddie Herpin, Mark LeBlanc, Don Simoneaux, David Gremillion, Dale Darbonne, Charles Ryder and Louis Butch Fontenot. Burial will take place at Bellevue Memorial Park.

Mr. Herpin, age 88 died Monday December 4, 2006 at 3:30pm in the Opelousas General Health System. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps while serving in WWII, co-owner of Opelousas Steam Laundry, he was also employed by Bordelon Chevrolet and Lee Fontenot Automotive until his retirement, a Fourth Degree Knight and a member of The Knights Of Columbus Council 1173 and a member of the Fourth Degree Knights Bishop Jules Jeanmard Assembly. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 0045 and a former Boy Scout and was a Troop leader.

Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years; Hazel Bernard Herpin of Opelousas, sons; Randy Herpin and his wife Linnie, Freddie Herpin, daughters; Christine Ryder and husband Charles, Barbara LeBlanc and husband Mark and Jolene Gremillion and husband David all of Opelousas, Susan Simoneaux and husband Don, Bonnie Darbonne and husband Dale all of Washington, 14 grandchildren; Randy, William, Deon, Andre and Brandon Herpin, Jeanne Prudhomme, Meredith Ragas, Nicholas LeBlanc, Kellie, Allison and Amy Simoneaux, Molly Gremillion, Samantha and Michael Darbonne, 19 great grandchildren and his pets; Tiny Girl, Pennie and Sunny.

Preceded in death by his parents Raymus and Mary Packard Herpin, his first wife Geraldine Bellard Herpin.

Visitation will be Tuesday December 5, 2006 from 3:00pm until 9:00pm and will reopen on Wednesday at 8:00am. The American Legion will do a service at 5:30pm. A rosary will be recited Tuesday at 6:30pm. There will also be a Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree Knight service after the rosary.
