Rayleen Vasseur

Lewisburg - A Mass of Christian Burial for Rayleen McMillan Vasseur, age 50, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 23, 2017, at St. John's Chapel in Lewisburg. The Reverend Jeff DeBlanc will lead the Mass. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Rayleen, a resident of Lewisburg, LA, came to the end of her ten-year battle with cancer on Monday, February 20, 2017 at Our Lady of Lourdes surrounded by her loving family.

Through Rayleen's battle with cancer, she was an inspiration to all that were blessed to know her. Her faith in the Lord was steadfast and she was a shining light to her family, friends and coworkers. She enjoyed gardening and working in her flower beds. She loved spending time with her family and making memories with her grandchildren. Rayleen held a special place in her heart for her four legged companion, her dog, Maeling. Rayleen was a dedicated member of the Blue Bird Foundation through Our Lady of Lourdes. She always put God first and found peace in reading the word of the Lord. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband of ten years, Brian Vasseur of Lewisburg; her sons, Joel Stanford and wife Starr, and their children Myles, Haze and Lucy of Sunset, Jacob Stanford and his children, Landon, Brayden and Jayden of Lewisburg; her daughter, Katie Johnson and fiancé, Carroll "C.J." Soileau, Jr. and their children, Brandon, Drake and Cayson of Carencro; her stepson, Justin Vasseur and wife, Emily and their child, J.D. of Lewisburg; her step-daughter, Jenea Guillot and husband, Brandon and their children, Braxton and Colt of Leonville; her father, Ray McMillan of Lewisburg; her sisters, Cheryl Higginbotham and husband, Gene of Lewisburg, Tammy Thibodeaux and husband, Fred of Lewisburg; and her godmother, Lou Anna Broussard of Church Point; her in-laws, Bud and Juanita Vasseur of Lewisburg, Brent and Malana Vasseur of Opelousas, David and Lauri Vasseur of Waller, TX, and Liz and David Daigle of Youngsville. .

She was preceded in death by her mother, Claudette Ray McMillan; her sister; Linda Fay McMillan; her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William Thomas Dixon; her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William McMillan.

Visitation will be held in the LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Wednesday, February 22, 2017, from 11:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday by the women of the Bluebird Foundation. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday.
Pallbearers will be Justin Vasseur, Carroll "C.J." Soileau, Jr., Lance McMillan, Jacob Stanford, Joel Stanford and Lance Daigle.
