Ray Guillory

Opelousas A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Ray E. Guillory, age 88, at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 17, 2012, at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Opelousas, La. Rite of Committal will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery with Monsignor Keith DeRouen as the celebrant.

Mr. Guillory, a resident of Opelousas, La., passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2012, at Opelousas General Health System.

Ray served his country proudly as a veteran of the United States Marines. He was a dispatcher for Monterey Pipeline CompanyNatural Gas Division, now Exxon Mobil and retired after 38 years of service. He then worked with his wife, Elsie, in her accounting and tax business.

Ray was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 3409 and a member of Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church from its beginning in 1967. He was a board member of the Indian Hills Country Club for several years and enjoyed playing golf with his friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, the former Elsie Beaumery Guillory of Opelousas, La. his two sons, Ray E. Guillory, Jr. of Opelousas, La. Craig S. Guillory of Lafayette, La. his brother, Ewell Guillory and wife, Leola, of Lake Charles, La. his sister, Betty Guillory Lafleur and husband, Floyd, of Jennings, La. his stepsister, Pat Thibodeaux of Bridge City, Texas his niece and goddaughter, Judy Guillory Carpenter of Lake Charles, La. his godson, David W. Richard of Opelousas, La. and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lastie and Evelia Duos Guillory his stepfather, Dewey Fontenot and his stepmother, Aza Guillory.

Visiting hours will be observed in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas, beginning on Thursday, August 16, 2012, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and will reopen on Friday at 9:00 a.m. until service time. A Rosary will be prayed 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
