Opelousas A funeral service will be held for Ray B. Guillory, age 92, on Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home Chapel of Opelousas, followed by interment in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery in Opelousas. Father Angelo Cremaldi will conduct the services.
Mr. Guillory, a native of Mamou and resident of Opelousas, died on Monday, May 3, 2010 at the Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Opelousas.
He was a selfemployed building contractor all of his life. He loved hunting, fishing and cooking. He faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII as a heavy machine gunner on the European Theatre.
He is survived by wife of 73 years, Lillian Manuel Guillory of Opelousas, La. his son, Challon Guillory and wife, Ann, of Baton Rouge, La. his daughters, Nancy Bennett of Cleveland, Tennessee Judy Deshotel of Baton Rouge, La. and his sisters, Lou Marcantel of Mamou, La. Yvonne Ardoin of Kaplan, La. Betty Hildabrand of Mamou, La. and his sisterinlaw, Ruth Zerangue. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 18 greatgrandchildren and 5 greatgreat grandchildren.
Mr. Guillory was preceded in death by his parents, Siday and Armide Fuselier Guillory his brother, Burk Guillory and his sonsinlaw, Clyde L. Deshotel and Clifton Bennett.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, May 4, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and will reopen on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at 8:00 a.m. until the time of service. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
