Port Barre Funeral services for Ralph Prudhomme will be held at 10:00 a.m. on, Saturday, October 8, 2011, in the First Baptist Church in Port Barre, La. followed by interment in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington, La. The Reverend Benji Richard and Reverend Jerry Adams will conduct the service. Music will be provided by Mike Quebedeaux.
Mr. Prudhomme, age 86, a resident of Port Barre, La., died on Thursday, October 6, 2011 at 12:30 p.m. at his residence.
Ralph belonged to the Local Carpenters Union of Baton Rouge, was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII and a member of the First Baptist Church in Port Barre. He was an avid fisherman, an excellent handy man, a good cook, friendly and well liked. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Sonnier Prudhomme of Port Barre, La. his son, Russell J. Prudhomme and wife, Linda, of Lafayette, La. his daughters, Rebecca Lanclos and husband, Raymond, of Opelousas, La. Brenda Collette and husband, Craig, of Port Barre, La. Toni Tartley and husband, Leonard, of Corpus Christi, Texas one sister, Enola Prudhomme Prather of Carencro, La. his brothers, Paul Prudhomme of New Orleans, La. Eli Prudhomme of Opelousas, La. nine grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren and nine greatgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eli and Hazel Reed Prudhomme and his grandson, Russell Prudhomme, Jr.
Visiting hours will be observed in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas, beginning on Friday, October 7, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and will reopen on 8:00 a.m. on Saturday until service time.
