Raleigh Duruisseau passed away peacefully at St. Lukes Episcopal Hospital in Houston, Texas on Easter Sunday morning. He was born on April 27, 1937 in Palmetto, Louisiana to Mr. Mrs. Joseph and Victoria Edwards Duruisseau.
Raleigh left Louisiana as a young man and raised his children in California then moved back to Palmetto in 1992 after retiring.
Raleigh loved Jesus with all his heart and enjoyed spending time with his family... he especially adored his grand children. He loved all sports, especially baseball, and loved keeping busy with his cows.
He was a man that never said too much but when he did, it was best you listen. He was full of wisdom and knew how to love affectionately.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years: Ave Marie Duruisseau, two sons: Deion A. La Shawn Duruisseau and Leonard J. Sheila Duruisseau, seven grandchildren: Dea S. Duruisseau, JaToi I. Duruisseau, Anthony Duruisseau, Devenir Duruisseau, ALayna L. Duruisseau, Amani M. Duruisseau, and Bella C. Duruisseau, and one greatgrandchild: DeMetrius A. Frazier, two sisters and one brother: Mayola Ernest Boykin, Louverda Mister, and Shelton Maxine Duruisseau, an aunt: Bernice Metoyer, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his brother: Wilbert Duruisseau, his mother: Victoria Duruisseau, his father: Joseph Duruisseau, and his brother: Roger Duruisseau, Sr.
