Rachel Hunter Taylor, born on September 24, 1936, peacefully passed away on December 21, 2023. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother who touched the lives of all those who had the privilege of knowing her. Rachel's passing is a great loss to her family and friends, but her legacy of love and kindness will continue to shine in their hearts.

Rachel's journey through life was one filled with joy and devotion to her loved ones. She had an unwavering commitment to family values and cherished spending quality time with her husband Willie Taylor and their children. Together they created countless precious memories, whether it was baking together or embarking on adventures around the world. Rachel reveled in the company of her family and treasured every moment she spent with them.

Throughout her life, Rachel exhibited boundless resilience that was only matched by her warm smile and compassionate nature. She possessed an unwavering dedication to spreading positivity and joy to all those around her. Her optimistic outlook on life was contagious, and she made it a point to encourage others to find happiness in even the smallest of things. In addition to being an exceptional cook, Rachel had an adventurous spirit that led her on various travels alongside Willie and their children.

Rachel's passing leaves a profound void in the lives of those who were fortunate enough to know and love her. She is survived by her children, Buddy Taylor and his wife Gwen, Dale Menard, Donna Hebert, and Denise Taylor; as well as her cherished grandchildren, Blaine Taylor and his wife Taran, and Brant Taylor; her great grandchildren, Za’Ryia Taylor, Zai’Lynne Taylor, Zai’Leigh Taylor, Brandon Taylor, Landon Taylor, Nova Taylor, and Maddox Taylor.  The love she had for each of them was immeasurable, and their lives were forever touched by her presence.

Rachel is preceded in death by her devoted husband Willie Taylor; her parents, Eddie and Rose Hunter; her son Ewell Menard; her brother Hindenburg Hunter and her sisters Alice Granger, Rose Hunter, Audrey Duplechain, and Louella Venable.

To honor Rachel's life and celebrate the profound impact she had on everyone around her, a visitation will be held on December 21st at the LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas. The visitation will take place from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. On December 22nd, visitation will re- open from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the same location. Following this final opportunity to pay respects to Rachel, a funeral service will be held at the LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home at 11:00 AM. A Rite of Committal will take place at Bellevue Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Blaine Taylor, Brant Taylor, Dylan Richard, Randy Joe Richard, Everett Fontenot, and Jeff Fontenot.

Rachel Hunter Taylor was an extraordinary woman whose radiant spirit illuminated every room she entered. Her love knew no bounds, and she leaves behind an indelible mark on all those who were fortunate enough to cross paths with her. As we mourn our loss, let us also remember the joy she brought into our lives and strive to carry on her legacy of love and compassion.
