Opelousas - Funeral services for Percy Joseph Babineaux, Jr. will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 21, 2022, in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas. Deacon Jerome Collins will officiate the services. Rite of Committal and burial will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas, LA.
Visitation will be held in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Monday, February 21, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at 1:00 p.m.

Percy J. Babineaux, Jr. passed away peacefully at St. Agnes Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Facility on Thursday, February 17, 2022, at the age of 63. After a couple of years of health issues, he succumbed to lung cancer. Percy was born on February 11, 1959, in Lafayette, LA. He grew up in Opelousas in Indian Hills and spent a majority of his adult life in Westwego (on the Westbank just outside of New Orleans). He was an avid New Orleans Saints fan and enjoyed watching them play. He also enjoyed working on cars, grilling, and boiling crawfish. He loved spending time with his four-legged friend, Bootsie. Percy will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his daughter, Chelsea Babineaux Diaz and husband, Anthony, of Kenner; his two grandsons, Aiden and Austin Diaz; his mother, Martha L. Castille of Opelousas; his sisters, Cathalene Babineaux of Carencro; Avis Babineaux Stakes and husband, Al of Marshall, TX; and Debra Babineaux Berthelotte of Breaux Bridge; his brother, Dorris J. Castille, Jr. of Marrero; and his other siblings, Karen Laviolette and husband, Roger, Kevin Babineaux, Scott Babineaux and Kim Babineaux. He is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lana Sonnier Babineaux; his brother, Keith J. Babineaux; his father, Percy J. Babineaux, Sr.; his grandparents, Faustin and Orelia Vasseur Daville; Verdie “Brigg” and Louisa Babineaux and his first cousins, Ray Taylor and Randall Taylor.
The family would like to send a special thanks to the caring and loving staff of St. Agnes Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center who cared for him these past couple of years and the Hope Healthcare and Hospice team for helping him transition peacefully.
