Patricia Breaux Cypriano, age, 76, passed away on January 28, 2024, at The Carpenter House in Lafayette, Louisiana. She was born on November 9, 1947, in St. Martinville, Louisiana. Patricia was known for her dedication to teaching and her unwavering passion for the well-being and education of children.
A Mass of Christian Burial to honor Patricia's life will be held on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas at 1:00 PM. Father Neil Pettit will officiate the Mass. Rite of Committal and burial will be held at Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery in Opelousas.
The visitation will take place in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel in LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas beginning at 8:00 AM until 12:00 PM. A Rosary will be prayed at 12:00 PM in the funeral home by Deacon Sammy Diesi.
Pallbearers will be Philip Cypriano, Phil Albert Cypriano, Jacob Cypriano, Tom Rish, Darryl Brasseaux and A.J. Gerace. Honorary pallbearer will be Jimmy Prados.
With a teaching and librarian career spanning 37 1/2 years, Patricia taught school both in the private and public systems. She spent 14 years teaching in the private school system and dedicated 23 years to teaching within the St. Landry Parish School System where she received the prestigious Teacher of the Year Award. During her time in Branson, Missouri, she also served as a valued member and was involved in building the Branson Elementary Library.
She worked in the English and Spanish Program "English As A Second Language" in the St. Landry Parish School System. Patricia's profession was teaching, but her true calling was educating children with love and dedication. Her impact as an educator will be cherished by generations of students who were fortunate enough to have crossed paths with her.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Patricia was known for being a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Sam Cypriano; her mother, Adez Champagne Breaux; her son, Philip Cypriano and his wife, Sommer Bowen Cypriano; her daughter, Tricia Cypriano Brasseur and her husband, Darryl; as well as her grandchildren, Tyler Guidry, Hannah Guidry, Jacob Samuel Cypriano, and Grace Braquet. Her memory will live on through her family and friends who were blessed to have been a part of her life.
She was preceded in death by her father, Edward Breaux and her aunts and uncles, Dewey and Eula Mae Halphen and Leed and Kim Champagne.
Pat’s family would like to thank the staff at the St. Joseph Carpenter House, the staff of Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center in Opelousas which include, Dr. Bryan Bienvenu, MD, her nurse practitioner, Cacey Dunn, her nurse navigator, Louise Pilgreen and the front office schedulers, Brandi Pitre and Michell Guillory for the care and support that was given to her.
Let us remember Patricia as an exceptional educator who touched countless lives with her passion for teaching and unwavering dedication to children. We celebrate her life knowing that she has left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her. May her soul find eternal peace.
