Oren Olivier

Opelousas A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Oren Joseph Olivier, age 73, at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 1, 2012, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery with Reverend Paul Bienvenu as the celebrant.

Mr. Olivier, a resident of Opelousas, La., died on Monday, October 29, 2012, at Opelousas General Health System.

Oren served his country honorably in the United States Army. He was a member of the American Legion in Laplace, La. and a member Woodmen of the World. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years of marriage, Judy Claflin Olivier of Opelousas, La. his son, Patrick John Olivier and wife, Claire Elkins Olivier, of Church Point, La. his daughter, Christine Olivier of Lafayette, La. his brothers, Gilbert Olivier and wife, Gloria Gay Olivier Albert Olivier and wife, Judie Olivier Floyd Olivier and wife, Gerri Olivier Joe Olivier and wife, Debra Olivier all of Opelousas, La. and his sister, Martha Olivier Richard of Opelousas, La. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Samantha Fatherree Haley Fatherree Matthew Hollier, Caelee Hollier, Marty Hollier, Cody Olivier and one greatgrandchild, Mason Talbot.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Virgie Venable Olivier.

Visiting hours will be observed in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas beginning on Wednesday, October 31, 2012 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and will reopen on Thursday at 8:00 a.m. until funeral time. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
