Olive Burleigh

Opelousas Funeral Services will be held for Olive Goudeau Burleigh, at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 4, 2013, in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home in Opelousas, LA. Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Church Mausoleum in Port Barre, LA. Father Pete Smith will conduct the service.

Mrs. Burleigh, age 96, died on Tuesday, October 2, 2013, at the Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Opelousas, LA.

Olive was a native of Evergreen, LA and resident of Melville, LA. She was a substitute teacher and the head of the concession stand at Melville School. She worked several years at the Opelousas Developmental Center and was a member of St. Nathaniel Episcopal Church in Melville. Olive will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her.

Survivors are her son, Merrell Burleigh and wife, Patricia, of Port Barre, LA and her daughter, Linda F. Jaubert, of Melville, LA. She is also survived by 2 grandchildren Laurie Quebedeaux of Melville, LA Julie Hebert of Melville, LA and 3 greatgrandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, John Burleigh her parents, Oliver and Delfine Ortego Goudeau four sisters one brother one grandson, Travis Burleigh and one greatgrandson, Eric Cormier.

Visiting hours will begin on Friday, October 4, 2013, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m.
