Norma Vasseur

Opelousas - Funeral services will be held for Norma Jean Ortego Vasseur, age 78, at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1, 2017, in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas. Burial will be held at the Bertrand Family Cemetery in Prairie Ronde, LA. Reverend David Fultz will officiate the service.

Mrs. Vasseur, a resident of Prairie Ronde, LA, passed away on Monday, February 27, 2017.

Norma was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She always enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. She was a very active person who enjoyed working with her husband in the fields and mechanic shop. Norma also enjoyed being outdoors camping, fishing and spending time at Holly Beach. She will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her sons, J.C. Vasseur, Jr. and wife, Kathy; Paul Vasseur and wife, Connie and her sisters, Joyce Vasseur, Leola Vasseur, Ruby Brown and Dale Roberie. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Tony Vasseur and wife, Jill; Trey Vasseur and wife, Amber; Jessica Vasseur; Blaine Mistric and her great-grandchildren, Jonah, Myla, Kylee, Reagan, Josi Kay, Ava, Alyssa, Jacie, Austin and Ana.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Vasseur, Sr.; her parents, Kirby and Vernice Castille Ortego and her sisters, Versey Vasseur, Bernadine Richrad and Virginia Ortego.

Pallbearers will be Tony Vasseur, Trey Vasseur, Blaine Mistric, Paul Vasseur, J.C. Vasseur, Jr. and Dennis Vasseur.

Visitation will be held at the LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Tuesday, February 28, 2017, from 2:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. The funeral home will reopen on Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at 8:00 a.m. until time of service.
