Nora Stelly

A Mass of Christian Burial for Nora Beaugh Stelly will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 10, 2015, in the Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Opelousas. Interment will follow in the St. Charles Catholic Cemetery in Grand Coteau, LA. The Very Reverend Monsignor Keith DeRouen will celebrate the Mass.

Mrs. Stelly, age 96, who was a native of Church Point, LA and resident of Opelousas, LA, died on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at the Opelousas General Health System.

Nora, a longtime parishioner of Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church, was a devout Catholic who loved dedicating her time to the church. There she also faithfully volunteered at the Adoration Chapel. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and all who knew her.

Survivors include her sons, James Stelly and wife Jacinda of Carencro, LA, Russell Stelly and wife Betty of Church Point, LA, and Ken Stelly and companion Susan Miller of Opelousas, LA; daughter, Nola Mae Bertrand and husband Rayford of Lafayette, LA; 9 grandchildren, Shane Stelly, Dusty Stelly, Jamie Pointer, Jeigha Douget, Brandon Stelly, Kevin Stelly, Debra Leclerc, Connie Courville, and Randy Bertrand, ; and 16 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Clinton Stelly; parents, Leonidas and Elizabeth Richard Beaugh; and a sister, Mamie Beaugh Stelly.

The family would like the thank Dr. Patrick Gillespie, Acadia/St. Landry Guest House, Opelousas General Health System and their staff in the I.C.U. and the L.T.A.C. and Central Home Health for all of the care and support during Mrs. Stelly's illness.

Visiting will be held at the LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas beginning Monday, February 9, 2015 from 12 Noon- 10:00 p.m. and will reopen on Tuesday at 8:00 a.m. until funeral time at 11:00 a.m. Deacon Bill Pollingue will pray the rosary at 7:00 p.m.
