Mrs. Dohmann, age 101, passed away on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at her residence surrounded by her family and loving caretakers.
Mrs. Nola Marie Trahan Dohmann was born on March 24, 1917 to Pierre Trahan and Louisiana Roy Trahan and is one of eleven children. She was married to the late Joseph Gervais "Blackie" Dohmann, Sr. and to this union they had twelve children. She was the grandmother of twenty-nine grandchildren, forty-five great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Dohmann worked very hard in the home alongside her husband raising their children, cooking and being an artist seamstress. Later she employed her talents in the workplace by being an expert tailor of men's apparel at Abdalla's Department Store. She was "mother" to everyone she met. She touched the lives of many through her generosity and hospitality and was known as a praying woman, who believed in God for his power to bless all those around her. Nola will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by five sons, Gerald Dohmann (Dot) of Maringouin, LA; Wayne Dohmann (Evelyn) of Church Point, LA; Dale Dohmann of Antioch, TN; Ronald Dohmann of Erwinville, LA; Vernon Dohmann (Karin) of Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada; four daughters, Arlene Dohmann Jagneaux (Larry) of Opelousas, LA; Sandra Dohmann Talbot (Steve) of Covington, LA and Lenn Dohmann Prince (Danny) of Dallas, TX and Verna Dohmann Landry (Kim) of Erwinville, LA.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Gervais "Blackie" Dohmann, Sr.; her parents, Pierre and Louisiana Roy Trahan; her sons, Gervais Dohmann, Ted Dohmann; her daughter, Deanna D. Chachere, and her siblings.
Words cannot describe the special thanks the family has for Dr. Stacy Mayeux and Mama's loving caregivers who loved and cared for her so graciously, Grace Barnes, Patricia Davis, Elizabeth Linton, Tracy Savoy and Dorita Major. She called them her "angels".
In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Dohmann requested that donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in her name.
Family and friends are invited to sign and view the online guestbook at www.lafondardoin.com.
