Neva Mcgee

Batchelor- Funeral services for Neva McGee, the former Neva Doris Carroll, will be held at 12 noon, on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at the First Pentecostal Church, Batchelor, LA, 3563 LA Hwy 419, Batchelor, LA, 70715. Interment will be held at the Latanache Baptist Church cemetery in Batchelor, LA. Reverend Sidney Carroll and Reverend Winters will conduct the services.

Neva McGee, age 83, who was a native of Coon, LA and a resident of Opelousas, LA, died on Sunday, May 31, 2015 at the Opelousas General Health System.

At the age of 16, Neva graduated from high school and went on to cosmetology school. She was the owner of a beauty shop and also a ceramic shop since 1983.
She set up ceramic booths at different arts and crafts shows over the years. Her hobbies included bowling on a league, painting and in her high school days, she played basketball. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Joseph McGee, Jr of Opelousas, LA; daughters, Linda Ann McGee and Melissa Joette McGee, both of Opelousas, LA; brothers, Sidney Lee Carroll, Sr. of Batchelor, LA, Samuel Benjamin Carroll of Austin, TX, and Elmer Davis Carroll of Batchelor, LA; sister, Effie Lyn Carroll Mack of Baton Rouge, LA and a grandson, Blair Dorsey Miller of Opelousas, LA.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Marvin Alonzo Carroll and Lura Alberta Munson Carroll and her brother, Marvin Alonzo Carroll, Jr.

Pallbearers will be Bryan Carroll, Mitchell Hebert, B.W. Ewing, Barry Ewing, Raymond Davis and Brad Carroll. Honorary pallbearers will be Lee Carroll, Elmer Carroll, Marvin Ellis, and Sidney Lee Carroll, Jr.

Visiting will be held in the LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas beginning on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and will reopen at 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday.
