Nelwin Fontenot

Funeral services will be held for Nelwin Fontenot, age 78, at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 10, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Krotz Springs, La. Burial will follow in the Methodist Cemetery in Melville, La.

Mr. Fontenot, a resident of Krotz Springs, La., died on Thursday, September 6, 2012, at 10:31 p.m.

Nelwin was a carpenter by trade and belonged to the Carpenters Local 1098 in Baton Rouge. He raised beautiful vegetable gardens, cooked wonderful meals and he loved to fish and hunt. He served his country as a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy and was a Boy Scout in his youth. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Gloria Fontenot of Krotz Springs, La. his daughters, Polly Fontenot Watson and husband, Rodger of Ville Platte, La. Suzanne Fontenot Belleau and husband, Ralph, of Krotz Springs, La. Michelle Fontenot Schexnayder and husband, Davy, of Krotz Springs, La. Pamela Fontenot Thibodeaux and husband, Chad, of Krotz Springs, La. his stepchildren, Perry Rhodes, Ronnie Rhodes, Rhonda Rhodes and Lisa Rhodes. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren, Heather, Cory, Jessica, Joshua, Elizabeth, Gage, Harley and nine greatgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mitchell and Bertha Bertrand Fontenot, his brother, Roy Fontenot and his sister, Joyce Dupre.

Visiting hours will be observed in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home of Krotz Springs, beginning on Sunday, September 9, 2012, from 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and will reopen on Sunday at 8:00 a.m. until service time.
