A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 17, 2013, in the St. Landry Catholic Church of Opelousas for Mr. Nelson Shorty Castille. Rev. Father James Brady will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park.
Mr. Castille was a resident of Opelousas and passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2013, at his residence at the age of 67. He was a ManagerOwner of a Convenience store for many years. Prior to that, he worked in the oilfield for many years. He was known as a Wonderful Cook and taught many of his children, grandchildren, and neighbors children his great cooking techniques. He enjoyed being outdoors and camping with his family and friends. He was a Christian man who loved his family dearly. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends who loved him very much.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Dorothy Dot Castille of Opelousas one son, Todd TC Castille and wife, Nicki of Opelousas two daughters, Denise Marie Castille Miller and husband, Johnny of Denham Springs and Dawn Castille Rebert and husband, Daniel of St. Martinville one brother, John Castille, Jr. of Ville Platte one sister, Rita Jeffers of Port Barre and his grandchildren, Megan Castille, Rachel Miller, Alyssa Stelly, Matthew Castille, Troy Stelly, Joseph Miller, and Madison Castille.
He was preceded in death by parents, John Castille, Sr. and Gertie Ortego Castille one brother, Ray Allen Castille, Sr. two sisters, Amy Castille and Helena Sonnier.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas. On Tuesday, visitation will continue from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. A Rosary service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday evening at the funeral home.
