Nella Delahoussaye

Opelousas – Funeral services for Nella Delahoussaye will be held for at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 29, 2022, in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas. Deacon Jerome Collins will conduct the funeral service.  Burial will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Nella Delahoussaye, age 71, on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at her residence.

Nella was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She loved her family more than anything.  She enjoyed sitting around a fire and drinking wine with her family and friends.  Nella was a wonderful cook and was known for her macaroni and cheese.  She was always there to help when someone needed it.  Nella will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband, Mitchell Delahoussaye; her son, Michael W. Basile II and wife, Andrea; her daughters, Mandie Stelly and husband, Joby; Natalie Daigle and husband, Stewart; her stepsons, Toby Delahoussaye and wife, Dorothy, Jody Delahoussaye, Bryan Delahoussaye and wife Debra, her stepdaughter, Dana Guidry and her sister, Lita Chaney and husband, Mike.  She is also survived by seventeen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clebert Zerangue and Cecile Meche Zerangue.

Visiting hours will be observed in the Skip Montet Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas, beginning on Monday, November 28, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 29, 2022.  A rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. on Monday evening by Cecille Dupre.
