Mrs. Geraldine Schexnayder

Krotz Springs-Funeral services for Geraldine "Mrs. Gerry" Schexnayder will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, September 14, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Krotz Springs. Burial will be held at the church cemetery. Reverend Chad Bolfa will conduct the services.

Mrs. Schexnayder, age 76, a resident of Krotz Springs, died on Friday, September 11, 2015, at Opelousas General Hospital surrounded by her loving and caring family. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Geraldine enjoyed reading and cheering on her favorite football team, the New Orleans Saints. She was a school teacher at Melville Private for many years. She also was a deputy of the Clerk of Court, a Notary Public and she married many people as the Justice of the Peace. Geraldine loved people and in return they loved her.

She is survived her sons, Donald Lee Schexnayder and wife Margie of Krotz Springs, Davy Chris Schexnayder, Sr. and wife Michelle of Krotz Springs; her daughters, Nina Elizabeth Guidry of Baton Rouge, Abronah Desire McGuire and husband Mike of Colmesneil, TX. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Jason Schexnayder, Nicholas Schexnayder, Alexandra Schexnayder, Natasha Schexnayder, Davy Chris Schexnayder, Jr., Casey Sellers, Sarah Ducote, Analece Leger, Timothy Leger, William Leger and 15 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie "Bea" Lee Schexnayder; her parents, Ivory and Nancy Kemp Disotell; her brother, Jerimiah Disotell and two sisters, Rosa Lee Wallace and Lydia Ann Schexnayder and her granddaughters, Dana Chloe Schexnayder and Meghan Ann Schexnayder.

The family has requested visitation be held on Sunday, September 13, 2015, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. and will reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Monday until time of services.
