Mr. Jeffrey Vizinat

Opelousas A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. for Jeffrey Mr. Jeff Joseph Vizinat, age 80, in the Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church on Monday, May 17, 2010, followed by interment in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery. Father Angelo Cremaldi will be the celebrant.

Visitation will be held in the Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church beginning on Monday, May 17, 2010 from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m., with a rosary scheduled for 1:30 p.m.

Mr. Vizinat, who was a resident of Opelousas, died at Prompt Succor Nursing Home on Thursday, May 13, 2010.

From 1962 to 1984, Jeff was an Agency Manager for St. Landry Parish Farm Bureau and was an independent agentbroker until his retirement in 2010. He was president of the St. Landry Cancer Society, a member of the Opelousas Rotary Club and also a member of Toast Masters. As captain of the Opelousas Tennis league, he led his team to win the State Championship in 2007. Also, he won a silver medal in the Senior Olympics and was an official referee for area high school football teams. He was a member of the Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church and served as a lector. He also served in the naval reserve.

Survivors include his wife, Mona Raye Ardoin Vizinat of Opelousas, La. his son, Stephen Vizinat and wife, Diane, of Opelousas, La. his daughter, Paula Marie Feucht and husband, Patrick, of Opelousas, La. Lisa Ann Ousse and husband, Jim, of Lafayette, La. and his brother, Lionel Vizinat of Ville Platte, La. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 5 stepgrandchildren, 6 greatgrandchildren and 2 greatgrandchildren on the way.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Rena Veillon Vizinat and his brother, Bernie Vizinat.
