Palmetto, LA- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mitchell Mike Sagnibene, age 75, at the St. Thomas Catholic Church in Palmetto followed by interment in the church cemetery. The Reverend James Nguyen will celebrate the Mass.
Mr. Sagnibene, a native of Amite, LA and resident of Palmetto, died at 3:55 p.m. on Sunday, January 11, 2009 at Opelousas General Health System.
He was employed with the East Baton Rouge City Parish Government and later was a bus driver for the St. Landry Parish School Board.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Q. Sagnibene of Palmetto; a daughter, Debra S. Hickman and husband Zeno of Palmetto; two brothers, Frank Sagnibene and wife Benie of Baton Rouge and Angelo Sagnibene and wife Nolia of Palmetto; a sister, Rose Alphonse and husband Peter of Slidell; two grandchildren, Michael Dupont, Sr. and wife Ethel and Nathan Hickman and wife Dana, all of Palmetto; four great grandchildren, Michael Dupont, Jr. of Palmetto, Ashley Goheen of Palmetto, Timothy Goheen of York, PA, and Ava Allyce Hickman of Palmetto.
Mr. Sagnibene was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Angelina Sagnibene; three brothers, Sam, Joe, and Charlie Sagnibene; five sisters, Josie Vullo, Francis Vige, Luci Vullo, Mary Vullo, and Katie Guilbeau.
Visiting will be held in the LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas beginning on Tuesday, January 13, 2009 from 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and re-open on Wednesday at 8:00 a.m. A rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
