Mingnon Firmin

February 22, 1941 — April 16, 2013

Mrs. Mingnon Marie Chachere Firmin, a resident of Lafayette, Louisiana, passed away peacefully in her home at the age of 72, on April 16, 2013 after a battle with breast cancer. Mrs. Firmin was born on February 22, 1941 in Opelousas, Louisiana to parents Edna Mae and Frank Chachere. After graduating from Sacred Heart Academy in Grand Coteau, she briefly attended Southwestern Louisiana Institute in Lafayette now University of Louisiana. She later married her husband, Daniel Firmin, and welcomed two sons, Cully and Greg.

Throughout her life, Maries family always meant the most to her and she thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her loving husband, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, parents, siblings, niece, and nephews. She was a devout Christian and each year at Christmas, looked forward to decorating her home and Christmas tree with many beautiful ornaments she collected throughout the years. She also loved her precious little dogs, shopping excursions with her friends and mother, planting beautiful flowers, traveling with her husband in their RV, and birdwatching with her best friend, Marnie Hudson.

Mrs. Firmin is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Daniel Firmin children Cully Firmin, and Greg Firmin and wife Lisa of Lafayette, LA sister Becky LeBlanc of Austin, TX brother Brad LeBlanc and wife Cherrie of Lafayette, LA stepfather John B. LeBlanc of Opelousas, LA and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Chachere, and Edna Mae LeBlanc.

A private family memorial service, led by Pastor Todd Menard of Family Life Christian Center in Lafayette, was held for Mrs. Firmin on April 20, 2013 at LafondArdoin Funeral Home in Opelousas. She was buried near her mother at Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery, also in Opelousas. Pallbearers included Brad LeBlanc, Greg Firmin, Danny Firmin, Nathan Firmin, Charles Diesi, and Spencer Cornette.
