A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church for Mildred Guidroz Benoit at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 13, 2014.
Rite of Committal will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park cemetery. The Reverend Monsignor Keith DeRouen will celebrate the Mass. Musical selections performed by Michael Totaro. Readers for the Mass will be Dana Ricks and Megan Perry and gift bearers will be Michelle Butcher and Brittany Comeaux

Mildred G. Benoit, age 86, died at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 09, 2014, at her residence in Opelousas, LA.

Millie worked as a Telephone Operator Supervisor at Bell South in Opelousas, LA. She later worked as a Switchboard Operator and as an Insurance Clerk for Opelousas General Hospital where she retired from after many years of service. Millie was a member of Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church and dearly loved attending Father Cremaldis masses. She cherished being with her family and loved to cook and bake for family gatherings. After eating the table was quickly cleared and family members gathered around for bourre which they played until the wee hours of the morning. She enjoyed working in her yard as well as camping, fishing and dancing. Millie was blessed with a long and happy life filled with much love and laughter. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her sons, Bernie Devillier and his wife Elizabeth of Belle Chasse, LA, David Castania of Dallas, TX and James Castania and his wife JoAnn of Opelousas, LA daughters, Donna Devillier Deranger of Opelousas, LA and Patricia Perry and her husband Lonnie of Opelousas, LA brothers, Earl Guidroz of Harvey, LA, Kenneth Guidroz of Baton Rouge, LA and Butch Guidroz of Lafayette, LA sister Gloria Totaro of Carencro, La grandchildren, Dana Devillier Ricks, Michelle Devillier Butcher, Michael Shane Deranger, Jarred Deranger, Brandon Castania, Brittany Castania Comeaux, Megan Perry, Logan Perry and ten great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husbands, Vernon Devillier, Sr and Cleve Benoit her parents, Leonce and Bertha Zerangue Guidroz brothers, Jimmy Guidroz, L.J. Guidroz and Ronald Guidroz sisters, Marie Cortez and Jane Andrus.

Mrs. Benoits pallbearers will be David Castania, Jimmy Castania, Shane Deranger, Jarred Deranger, Brandon Castania and Logan Perry.

Visitation will be held in the LaFondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas beginning on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 from 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Visiting will continue on Wednesday, August 13 from 8:00 a.m. until service time.
