Opelousas - Funeral services will be held for Milbon Mel Dupre, 71, on Saturday, February 9, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany, 1103 S. Union Street in Opelousas, Louisiana. The Reverend J. Peterson Smith, Rector, will conduct services. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Washington, Louisiana.
Viewing will be observed on Friday, February 8, 2008 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home, 2845 South Union Street in Opelousas. The church will open at 9:00 a.m. Saturday for visiting prior to the 11:00 a.m. service.
Mr. Dupre, a resident of Opelousas, was a retired professional Human Resources manager with experience in the banking, hospital administration, wood products, and manufacturing industries. He was a graduate of the University of Southwestern Louisiana B.S. and Webster University M.S.. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Catherine Palmyre Bailey Dupre, four children: Emile and Ellen Caillet Dupre of Orange, Texas; Dr. Greg and Angelle Dupre Lord of Leesville; Harry and Julie Dupre Buckner of Plaquemine; Marcel and Isabel Morrison Dupre of Baton Rouge; and 16 grandchildren: Derek Dupre, Jamie Dupre, Jesse Dupre, Maria Dupre, Michael Dupre, Catherine Calhoun, Gregory Lord, Dr. Christina Lord, Rhonda Lord Miller, Jodie Lord, Steven Lord, Benjamin Buckner, Miriam Buckner, Melinda Buckner, Maura Dupre, and Bailey Dupre; one brother, Harvey Dupre, Jr. and wife, Betty Hicks Dupre of Kingston Springs, Tennessee; one sister, Beulah Bea Dupre Ganson and husband, Brady Ganson of Abilene, Texas; and mother-in-law, Mary Catherine Pierrel Bailey of Opelousas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey Dupre, Sr. and Elta Leger Dupre of Palmetto, Louisiana, two brothers, Marvin Ray Dupre and Wayne Dupre and one sister, Doralea Dupre Luneau, and his father-in-law, James F. Bailey, of Opelousas, Louisiana.
