Michael Duplechien

A Mass of Christian Burial for Michael Dwayne Duplechien will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 9, 2017, in the St. Bridget Catholic Church in Lawtell. Reverend Ted Broussard will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the St. Bridget Cemetery in Lawtell.

Michael, age 55, was born in Lafayette and a longtime resident of Prairie Ronde. He passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2017, at Ochsner's Medical Center in New Orleans. He was the Parts Manager for Service Chevrolet for 13 years. He was a parishioner of St. Bridget Catholic Church. He enjoyed going to the beach and making sandcastles, dancing, and being outdoors making fires. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with family and friends. He was loved by all and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Charlene L. Duplechien of Prairie Ronde; two sons, Ryan Duplechien and wife, Michelle of Lafayette; and Korey Duplechien of Lafayette; "inherited daughter", Jea Hundley and husband, Barry Hundley, Jr. and their children, Caleb and Caitlyn of Prairie Ronde; three sisters, Beverly Carriere and husband, Lee of Opelousas; Dale Joubert and husband, Bruce of Lafayette; and Arlene Richard of Opelousas; brother-in-law, Didier "T-Boy" Hargroder of Opelousas; four grandchildren, Marley, Nico, Abram, and Audriana; and stepmother, Judy Duplechien of Prarie Ronde.

He was preceded in death by his father, Leon Duplechien; mother, Eurella Fontenot Leger; brother, Leon Troy Duplechien; sister, Rita Duplechien Hargroder; and brother-in-law, Ollie "Sonny Boy" Richard.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas. On Thursday, visitation will continue from 8:00 a.m. until 9:15 a.m. A Rosary will be recited on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. in funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Ryan Duplechien, Korey Duplechien, Stanley Leger, Jeremy Hargroder, Caleb Hundley, and Blake Hargroder.
