Melanie Guidroz

Funeral services for Melanie Meche Guidroz will be held Tuesday July 31, 2007 at 1:30pm at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas. Interment will follow in Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery. Fr. Nicky Trahan will conduct the services.

Mrs. Guidroz age, 90 a resident of Opelousas, died Saturday July 28, 2007 at 2:30am at Senior Village Nursing Home. Mrs. Guidroz was born January 2, 1917 to Elzay Meche and Oscalie Olivier Meche. She was one of nine children. She married Earl Guidroz on December 16, 1939 and assisted him in his career as a law enforcement officer. Her life was devoted to raising her two children, Denny Guidroz and Susan G. Caffarel. The joy of her life was cooking and sewing not only for her children and husband, but for so many of her nieces and nephews. After her children were grown, she gave many hours of attention to her grandchildren and she also devoted a lot of community service as a Gray Lady at Opelousas General Hospital and was also a member of Young At Heart.

She was survived by a son; Denny R. Guidroz of Opelousas, daughter; Susan G. Caffarel of Durango, CO., brother; Bruno Meche of Arnaudville, sisters; Winnie Zerangue of Opelousas, Lola Latiolais of Arnaudville, Cecile Zerangue of Opelousas and Patsy Latiolais of New Roads, 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; Earl J. Guidroz and her parents; Elzay Meche and Oscalie Olivier Meche, brothers; Willie Meche and Alvin Meche, sister; Marie Knott.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 10:00am until time of services at 1:30pm.
