Melanie Delafosse

Opelousas Services for Melanie Missy Delafosse, age 42, will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 13, 2011 in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home Chapel, followed by interment in the Myrtle Grove Cemetery in Opelousas. The Reverend Pam Roy will conduct the services.

Melanie, who was a native and resident of Opelousas, died on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at her residence.

She was a graphic designer and had worked in medical records. She attended LSUE, LeMar College in Corpus Christi, Texas and T.H. Harris Trade School in Opelousas. Since the age of 12 she wished to be an organ donor so she could help a number of people and in death she got her wish.

Survivors include her companion, Larry Carl Kaiser of Opelousas, La. her parents, Jessie and Kaye Wise Ryder of Opelousas, La. three sons, Logan Jude Delafosse of Baton Rouge, La. Lane Joseph Delafosse of Opelousas, La., Jarred Steven Delafosse of Austin, Texas and one daughter, Jamie Katherine Delafosse of Austin, Texas. She is also survived by her brothers, Leon Todd Ryder of Opelousas, La. Russell Nelams of Pine Prairie, La. her sister, Michelle Nelams of New Iberia, La., her godchild and niece, Sydney Hermine Ryder of Opelousas, La. and her nanny, Velma Arnaud Beaugh of Opelousas, La., whom she and her kids loved dearly.

She is preceded in death by her, grandparents, Russell and Marie Mamo Wise and Jessie and Alice Ryder.

Visiting hours will be observed on Sunday, March 13, 2011, in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 3:00 p.m.
