Krotz Springs-A Mass of Christian Burial for Mayonce J. Dupre’ will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, November 11, 2024, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Krotz Springs, LA. Father Henry Antony will celebrate the Mass. The Rite of Committal and interment will be held at Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas, LA.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 10, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Krotz Springs. A Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. on Sunday evening in the funeral home led by Fr. Henry Antony. Visitation will continue Monday, November 11, 2024, from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
Mayonce Dupre’, a beloved figure in his community, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on November 8, 2024, at his residence in Krotz Springs, Louisiana. He was born on October 1, 1928, in Grand Prairie, Louisiana, and was a longtime resident of Krotz Springs, Louisiana.
Mayonce retired from the St. Landry Parish School Board System after an admirable 26 years of dedicated service as a school bus driver. His commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of the children in his care exemplified the compassion and responsibility he upheld throughout his life. In addition to his career, he was also a devoted farmer, nurturing the land and contributing to the agricultural richness of his community.
Outdoors was where Mayonce truly thrived; he enjoyed hunting and fishing during his younger years and found joy in gardening in his later years. These hobbies not only provided him with great satisfaction but also gave him precious moments spent under the open skies, connecting with nature and creating lasting memories.
Known for his sense of humor, Mayonce loved to spend time with family and friends, always ready with a joke or a playful prank. His lively spirit and warmth drew people to him, making him a cherished companion to those fortunate enough to know him.
He is survived by his wife of 76 years, Mercedese Dupre’; four sons: Blanchard (Sheila) Dupre’, Roger Dupre’, Jean (Marsha) Dupre’, and Myron (Sheri) Dupre’; four daughters: Debbie Barron, Verna (Charlie) Melancon, Rosemary Batton, and Myra (Jimmie) Muse; one brother, Jimmy Dupre’; one sister, Joy Ortego; 28 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Mayonce is survived by countless friends and extended family members who will carry his legacy forward, honoring his memory through acts of kindness, laughter, and love. He lived a life filled with cherished memories, strong values, and a deep love for his family and friends. He will be profoundly missed but fondly remembered for the joy he brought into the lives of others.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lamar Dupre’ and Adosia Deshotel Dupre’; daughter, Brenda McGee and son-in-law, Ferrell McGee; daughter, Angela Aymond; sons-in-law, David Batton and Dalvin Barron; daughter-in-law, Trallis Dupre’; granddaughter, Mallory Aymond; grandson, Keven Dupre’; great-grandson, Louis Diesi; siblings: Etha Manuel, Theresa Courville, Ella Mae Fontenot, Emilee Fontenot, Bernice Lafleur, Sylvia Soileau, and Rodney Dupre’.
Pallbearers will be Shaun Dupre’, Jacob Dupre’, Roger Lee Dupre’, Parker Muse, Shaine McGee, and Ryan Batton.
