Maureen Terracina

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Maureen Terracina announce her death on Saturday, September 12, 2020.

Visiting and funeral services will be held in the Skip Montet Chapel at LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home on Friday, September 18, 2020 beginning at 10:00 a.m. until time of the funeral at 1:00 p.m. Rite of Committal will follow at Consolata Cemetery in Lake Charles, LA. The Reverend Monsignor Russell Harrington will conduct the religious service.

Maureen was a native of Opelousas and longtime resident of Lake Charles. Hurricane Laura forced her from her home and into the loving care of her family in Opelousas.

Maureen was a devout Catholic who loved the Lord. She was a kind and compassionate person who deeply loved her family, especially her three granddaughters and her newest great grandson. Maureen was extremely proud of her Italian heritage and she had the opportunity to visit Cefalu, Sicily, the city of her ancestors. A helping hand to someone in need, describes Maureen’s kindness and willingness to give. For more than 40 years, Maureen worked and managed the Calcasieu Parish Employees Federal Credit Union in Lake Charles until her retirement. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and her dear friends.

She is survived by her son, Jody Richard and wife Kimberly; daughter, Carla Richard Watkins and husband Mark; husband, Terry Richard; brothers, John Billeaudeau and wife Mary, Kent Terracina and wife Denise, Luke Terracina and Sammy Terracina; sisters, Marie Terracina Bratton, Melinda Terracina and Janice Terracina Marks and husband Jean; three granddaughters, Kristin Watkins Carter and husband Brandyn, Brooke Watkins and Mia Richard; great grandson, Wyatt Carter. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.

Maureen is preceded in death by her parents Anthony “Tony”, Jr. and Verlie Smith Terracina; sister, Alice Terracina Broussard and her brother, Anthony “Junior” Terracina, III.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests Hurricane Laura relief donations be made in Maureen’s name to Samaritan’s Purse, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, NC, 28607 (samaritanspurse.org) 828-262-1980 or please give to any charity of your choice.

LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas has been entrusted with Maureen’s funeral services.
