Opelousas - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mary Mae Myers at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, August 15, 2022, at St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas, La.  Father Justin Arockiasamy will celebrate the Mass.  Rite of Committal will follow at Holy Sepulcher Mausoleum in Opelousas.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 15, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas.

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Mary Mae Myers, age 102, on Thursday, August 11, 2022.  She passed away peacefully at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Nursing Home in Opelousas, La.

Mary was a member of the Opelousas Garden Club and always enjoyed judging the local flower shows.  She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters for many years.  She loved square dancing, traveling, and cooking.  Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.  Mary will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her son, Henry Andrew Myers, Jr. and her daughter, Judith Myers.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Andre’ Myers and wife, Monica, and their child, Whittany, Timothy Myers and wife, Holly, and their children, Silas, Evelyn, Wesley and Declan, Crystal Guidry and her children, Anthony and Kinsley, Denise Hollier and partner, Carol Spansel, Will Hollier and his children, William, Robert and Olivia and Drew Hollier and wife, Nicole and their children, Caroline, Andrew, and Alex.  She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by parents, Ezia Fontenot and Lemoine Ledoux Fontenot; her husband, Henry “Blue” Andrew Myers, Sr.; her brothers, Wycliffe Fontenot, Linton Fontenot, Yves Fontenot and her sister, Ruby Guilbeau.
