Funeral services for Mary Durand Montet will be held on Sunday, October 14th, 2007 at Lafond Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas at 2:00PM. The interment will be in St. John Cemetery in Lafayette. The Rev, Msgr Robert Romero, The Rev. Dale Hensarling and the Rev. Gary Schexnayder, will conduct the services.

Mary, age 67, a resident of Opelousas, died on Friday, October 12, 2007 at Doctors Hospital at 7:36AM.

Mary was a devoted wife, a loving mother to Nora, Pattie and Molly, a loving sister to Sammie and Charles and she cherished her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was blessed with many friends who all loved her and always was keen and eager to help people in need. She was employed at Lafond Ardoin Funeral Home as Office Manager before her retirement, her husband Skip, is a Funeral Director and manager of Lafond Ardoin Funeral Home. They were very much involved with the civic theater and both served as president of the Opelousas Little Theater and Mary directed many successful productions. Her accomplishments include; past President of the Rebecca Assembly of Louisiana and past President of the Opelousas Garden Club and Opelousas Little Theater, she loved antique shopping, was a member of: the Misfits, she was a former member of Louisiana Memorial United Methodist Church and volunteered to work at the Louisiana Memorial Pumpkin Patch which was held in October every year, she will be sadly missed. She was a member of St. Landry Catholic Church and Altar Society, a member of Lydia Cancer society, Camellia Rebecca Lodge 12, Crowley Odd Fellow Lodge, vice president of Elks Auxillary, past president of the American Business Womens Association. She was the Assistant Assessment Chairman and board member of Christmas in April and was also involved in Christmas in Old Opelousas. She was founder and co-owner of the Penny-Ante coin shop in Fayetteville N.C. and was Mrs. Fayetteville in North Carolina.

She is survived by her devoted husband; Julius J. Skip Montet of Opelousas, her daughters; Mrs. Alan Nora Lynn Fruge of Lubbock, TX., Pattie Ann Sellers of Panama City, FL., Mrs. Jimmy Molly Young of Shepherd, TX., her sister; Mrs. Kurt Sammie Nell Felton of Central, La. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren; William Patrick Williams and his wife Laci, AC2 AWSW Randolph Trea R. Mutter, III, Jonathan Fruge, Hanna Fruge Payton Montana Young, Cole Lee Young and Morgan Chalet Young and 4 great-grandchildren; Zakarey Bryant Williams, Shahalie Mistina Williams, Jillian Kay Williams and Ceare Diane Williams

She was preceded in death by her parents; Chalmas Odell C.O. Durand and Ruth Word Durand, brother; Charles Odell Durand, Sr. and 3 grandchildren; James Michael Williams, Joy Mistina Williams and Anthony John Credeur and son James Odell Sellers.

A Memorial donation may be made to a favorite charity of your choice.

The family has requested that visitation will be observed on Saturday, October 13, 2007 from 5:00PM to 9:00PM and will continue on Sunday, from 9:00AM until time of services. A Rebecca Memorial service will be at 5:30PM on Saturday and a Rosary will be recited at 6:30PM.

The family wishes to give special thanks to the Doctors, Nurses and staff at Doctors Hospital.
