A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mary M. Landry, age 99, at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 18, 2017, in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Washington, LA. Reverend Jared Suire will conduct the Mass. Rite of Committal will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington, LA.
Mrs. Landry, a resident of Opelousas, LA, and native of Washington, LA died on Monday, January 16, 2017, at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Landry was a nurse at Opelousas General for 30 years. She was a member of the Washington Rosary Group and a former member of the Immaculate Conception Altar Society. Mrs. Landry will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her son, William "Bill" John Landry, Jr. and wife, Deborah of Natchitoches, LA; her daughters, Mary L. Stevens and husband, Jimmy of Garland, LA, Laura L. Saucier and husband, Wayne of Butte La Rose, LA, Theresa L. Loos and husband, Robert of Lafayette, LA. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William John Landry, Sr., her parents, Conrad and Lydia Smith Martin, six brothers, two sisters and her grandson, Jason Gordon Saucier.
Visitation will be held at the LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Tuesday, January 17, 2017, from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. The funeral home will reopen on Wednesday, January 18, 2017, at 8:00 a.m. until time of service. A rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
