Mary Fontenot

Opelousas - A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Joyce Pitre Fontenot will be held on Friday, December 18, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. in the Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church. The Reverend Monsignor Keith DeRouen will celebrate the Mass. The Rite of Committal will take place at Bellevue Memorial Park.

Mrs. Fontenot, age 91, a resident of Opelousas, died on Tuesday, December 15, 2015, at her residence.

She was a housewife and loved sewing, gardening, listening to and dancing to French music. She will greatly be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her son, Louis Pershing Fontenot, Jr. of Scott, LA; her daughters, Dorothy Fontenot Hebert and husband, Danny, of Baton Rouge, LA; Mary Fontenot Quebedeaux and husband, Chester, of Baton Rouge, LA; Elizabeth "Liz" Fontenot Guedry and husband, John, of Baton Rouge, LA; Kathleen "Kathy" Fontenot Moreau and husband, Mark, of Scott, LA; 13 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis P. Fontenot, Sr.; her parents, Layton Joseph Pitre and Bible Lejeune Pitre; 2 brothers; 1 sister and her grandson, Mark Allen Hebert.

The family has requested visitation be held on Thursday, December 17, 2015, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and will reopen on Friday at 8:00 a.m. until time of services. A rosary will be prayed on Thursday at 7:00 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Lucas Fontenot, Lawson Threeton, Kameron Qaisieh, Todd Quebedeaux, Grant Gonzales and Allen Quebedeaux.
