Mary Darbonne

Opelousas - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mary Lou Darbonne at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6, 2015, in the Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Opelousas. Reverend Gregory Simien will conduct the Mass of Christian Burial. Rite of Committal will be held at Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Darbonne, age 87, a resident of Opelousas, LA, died on Monday, May 4, 2015, at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Nursing Home.

Mary Lou worked at Little Chef and Dairy Queen for many years. She loved cooking, baking brownies and working in her garden. She also enjoyed visiting with her family and friends and especially the time she spent with her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her son, Stanley Darbonne and wife, Gwen, of Opelousas, LA; her daughter, Connie D. Fontenot of Opelousas, LA and her sister, Mary Jo Guillory of Ville Platte, LA. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Shelton Darbonne and her parents, Emile and Louisa Fontenot Soileau.

Visitation will be held at the LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Wednesday, May 6, 2015, from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. A rosary will be prayed on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m.
