Mary Martin

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Bergeron Martin, age 86, will be held on Tuesday, November 23, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. in St. Landry Catholic Church, Opelousas, La., followed by interment in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery. The Reverends Gary Schexnayder and James Brady will celebrate the mass.

Mrs. Martin, native of Arnaudville, and a lifelong resident of Opelousas, passed away Saturday, November 20, 2010 at Opelousas General Hospital.

She and her late husband, Lee Martin, owned and operated Lee Martins Paint and Body Shop on Vine Street in Opelousas until his death in 1999. She was a prayerful parishioner of St. Landry Catholic Church and was a loving, sister, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who will be sadly missed. She enjoyed spending time in her flower gardens and cooking for her family.

Mrs. Martin leaves behind her sister, Sis Lanclos and her husband, Albert Lanclos of Arnaudville her four children, Mary Lee Perry of Opelousas, Jimmy Martin Sr. and his wife, Kathy Martin of Opelousas, Patricia Fontenot and her husband, Al Fontenot, of Opelousas, and Randy Martin and his wife, Cynthia Martin, of Nuba, nine grandchildren, Scott Perry of Opelousas, Amy Quebedeaux of Washington, Jimmy Joey Martin, Jr.of Raleigh, NC, Dawn Blumrich of Opelousas, Melanie Richard of Opelousas, Larry Heinzen of Leonville, Colby Heinzen of Lafayette, Chad Martin of Nuba and Derek Martin of Nuba 17 great grandchildren, and 1 greatgreat grandchild.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Lee Martin, her sisters, Angela Arnaud, Irene Zerangue, Noelie Andrus, a brother Joseph Bergeron Jr, and her grandson Jonathan Martin.

Pall bearers will be Scott Perry, Jimmy Joey Martin Jr., Larry Heinzen, Colby Heinzen, Chad Martin and Derek Martin.

Visiting hours will be observed in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Monday, November 22, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. and will reopen at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday until time of service. A rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
