Mary Angona

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mary Rockforte Angona, age 93, at 12:05 p.m. on Thursday, September 8, 2011 in the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Krotz Springs. Interment will follow in the St. John Cemetery in Melville. The Reverend Chann Van Nguyen will celebrate the Mass and Reverend Wayne Duet will concelebrate.

Mary Rockforte Angona peacefully left this earth to be with our Lord on September 5, 2011 surrounded by her loving family at Landmark of Baton Rouge.

Mrs. Angona was born in Plaquemine, LA on December 7, 1917, to Nick and Lena Rockforte. She was a former resident of Melville and Krotz Springs. She retired from the St. Landry Parish School Board after 16 years of service.

Survivors include her daughters, Rose Mary Guidry and husband, Kert of Denham Springs, Lena Vass and husband Winston of Baton Rouge a daughterinlaw, Joyce Solar Angona 3 granddaughters, Nina M. Angona of Krotz Springs, Kelli G. Rabalais and husband Kevin of Denham Springs, and Kim G. Perry of Houston, TX 3 great grandsons, Lance Cutrer, Cade and Cole Rabalais 2 step grandchildren, Rion Vass of Gonzales and Kelli V. Webster of Atlanta ,GA stepgreat grandchildren, Cory and Lexie Vass sisters, Frances Paola and husband Vince, Bunny Pitslata, Annie Canezaro, Virginia Lorena and Nora Russo.

She is preceded in death by her husband Victor Angona son, A.J. Angona parents Nick and Lena Graffia Rockforte three brothers, Peter, Joe and Tony Rockforte.

Pallbearers will be her 3 great grandsons, Lance Cutrer, Cade and Cole Rabalais and her nephews Mark Solar, Lionel Rockforte, V.J. Paola, Nickie Rockforte and Charles Traina.

The Angona family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of Landmark of Baton Rouge for the 8 years of love and care given to their mother.

Visiting will be held in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home of Krotz Springs beginning on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 from 4:30 10:00 p.m. and will reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
