Martin Devalcourt

Martin DeValcourt, a resident of Lafayette, LA was born on February 3, 1952 to Mary Louise LeCompte DeValcourt Fontenot and Allen DeValcourt.  He was born and raised in Sunset, LA.  Martin died April 9, 2022 at the age of 70 at the St. Joseph Carpenter House in Lafayette, LA .   He graduated from Sunset High School in 1970.  He served in the US Marine Corp from April 26, 1971 to April 25, 1973.  Martin worked in the insurance field for several years before finally fulfilling his dream to work in the trucking industry with Stephens Transport for approximately 14 years.

Martin leaves behind his daughter, Stephanie Carrera and his loving sisters, Marvel Taylor, Rosa Stelly (Howard) and Dana Mitchell (John Pat) and his beloved grandchildren, Sophia Carrera, Maddie, Natalie and Laila Morrison.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Allen DeValcourt and Mary Lou DeValcourt Fontenot.

A  graveside service will be held at St. Charles Borromeo at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2022.
