Opelousas - Funeral services for Martha Lee Olivier Richard will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 15, 2022, in the Skip Montet Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas.  Deacon Dwayne Joubert will conduct the service.  Burial will be held at a later date.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas.  A Rosary will be prayed at 1:00 p.m.

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Martha Lee Olivier Richard, age 81, on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Martha owned and operated "Nan's Daycare" for many years.  She loved babysitting, was a caretaker at heart and loved tending to people.  She enjoyed watching TV, watching game shows, enjoyed cooking and playing "Bouree".  Martha will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her sons, Blake Richard and wife, Della of Lafayette; and Gary "Gap" Richard of Opelousas; her daughters, Sheila Lanclos and husband, Moise of Opelousas; and Jackie Richard of Opelousas; her brothers, Gilbert Olivier, Jr. and wife, Gloria of Opelousas; Floyd Olivier and wife, Gerry of Opelousas; and Joe Olivier and wife, Debbie of Opelousas.  She is also survived by six grandchildren, Nicholas Quirk, Kim Smith, Alexis Lanclos, Moise Lanclos, III ("Tres"), Aaron Lane and Tristan Higginbotham and seventeen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hendrick Richard; her parents, Gilbert Olivier and Virgie Venable Olivier; her brothers, Oren Olivier and Albert Olivier; grandchildren, Mike Lanclos and Brett Lanclos; niece, Frankie Olivier; and nephew, Casey Olivier.
