Opelousas A memorial service for Marilyn Marie Hunga Lord will be held on Friday, November 7, 2014, at 7:00 p.m. in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas. Reverend Perry Hubbs will conduct the services.
Mrs. Lord, age 64, a resident of Opelousas, died Sunday, November 2, 2014, at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria.
She served her country proudly in the United States Army. She was a veteran of the Vietnam War where she was stationed in Guatamala. Later as a Sergeant, she served at the Pentagon, where she worked in communications. For the past 17 years, she worked as a LPN at TriCommunity Nursing Home in Palmetto, caring for her patients and their families. She loved her children and grandchildren and enjoyed telling them her stories.
She is survived by her daughters, Spring Woodson and husband, Johnny, of Opelousas Hope Roy and husband, Jerry, of Opelousas, her sisters, Rachel Markwell and husband, David, of Pine, Colorado Ronnie Jo Cebulla and husband, Dieter, of El Cajon, California eight grandchildren, Vanessa Tudor, Micah LaHaye, Colin LaHaye, Drake Woodson, Ashlyn Woodson, Dylan Richard, Cameron Roy and Jeremiah Roy and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Thibodeaux her parents, Rondal and Josephine Hunga her son, Matthew Earl Monger her granddaughter, Haley Marks her niece, Theresa Markwell and her nephew, Roland Cebulla.
The family has requested visitation be held on Friday, November 7, 2014, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 7:00 p.m.
