Mrs. Jean passed away on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at Eunice Manor Nursing Home in Eunice surrounded by daughters. She was a homemaker, a nurturing mother, a caring wife, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and friend. She was a very devout Catholic, and spiritual woman with a huge faith. She was a very strong and resilient kind of woman with a “Lucy’s” twin comical personality, but also a “spitfire” style person sometimes.
She would spend her free time reading, dancing, playing cards, and fishing. She loved being around her family, especially her daughters and all the grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her sister, Mary Lee “Mim” Fontenot of Huntsville, Alabama; four daughters, Corlis A. Fontenot of Port Barre; Karen Quebedeaux of Nuba; Ave M. McBride and husband, Mark of Lafayette; and Mary Lee Meynig and husband, Marne of Sunset; 11 grandchildren: Beau and Jami Lee Fontenot, Ashley Fontenot, Erin Fontenot, Tracy and Josh Venable, Robbie and Monica Devillier, Joey and Alicia Devillier, Amanda McBride, Scott and Lauren McBride, Blake and Dania Meynig, Amy and Paul Bernadas, Trey and Mary Ellen Meynig; 16 great-grandchildren: Christian and Bailey Fontenot, Seth Fontenot, Jaxson Fontenot, Maddox Fontenot, Dax Savoy, Alyssa Keys, Ryan Fontenot, Addison Fontenot, Taylen Gautreaux, Kylie Devillier, Gavin Devillier, Bailey Devillier, Rylie Lomas, Slayden Lomas, Sam Bernadas, and Dave Bernadas, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, Ahna Liis and Anderson Gautreaux.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dudley Joseph Quebedeaux; her parents, Nicholas Viviano and Therese Quebedeaux Viviano; her daughter, Donna Vautrot; two infant daughters, Debra Quebedeaux and Jeanne Marie Quebedeaux; one infant son, Rickey Quebedeaux; two sons-in-law, Billy Fontenot and Frank Vautrot; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joseph Emile Quebedeaux and Adella Moran Quebedeaux; and brothers-in-law, Merrick “Sonny” Fontenot, James Quebedeaux and wife, Ellen; and Dorsey Quebedeaux.
