Marie Duffy

Opelousas-Funeral services for Marie Vallie Duffy, age 85, will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Opelousas, La. followed by interment in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery in Opelousas. Father Paul Bienvenu will conduct the services.

Mrs. Duffy, a resident of Opelousas, La., died on Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at Doctors Hospital of Opelousas.

Mrs. Duffy is survived by her daughter, Connie Lynn Duffy of Lafayette, La.; her brother, Joseph Nolan Guidroz of Houma, La.; her sisters, Velma G. Bihm of Opelousas, La.; Ann Marie Guidroz of Opelousas, La.; Nola M. Guidroz of Opelousas, La.; Lorena Anne Foster of Opelousas, La. and Mary Anne Bellard of Carencro, La. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Holly Carriere and her husband, Cory, of Lafayette, La. and Scott Brandon Godchaux and three great-grandchildren, Hayden, Tristan and Gage Carriere.

Mrs. Duffy is preceded in death by her husband, William Bill B. Duffy; a son, William Dean Duffy and her brothers, Joseph Curley Guidroz and John Arthur Guidroz and her parents, Jarvis Leon Guidroz and Mary E. Moreau Guidroz.

Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be: Brian Bellard, Ricky Richard, Wayne Gautreaux, Nolan Guidroz, Glynn Lanclos, Philip Foster, Ronald Guidroz, Scott Godchaux and Cory Carriere.

Visiting hours will be observed in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Wednesday, September 24, 2008 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and will reopen at

8:00 a.m., Thursday, September 25, 2008 until time of service. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
