Margaret Slocum

Krotz Springs-Funeral services for Margaret Slocum, age 67, will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Krotz Springs with interment in the St. Anthony Catholic Church Cemetery. Pastor Chad Bolfa will officiate the services.

Mrs. Slocum, a resident of Krotz Springs, died on Thursday, August 27, 2009 at 12:45 p.m. at her residence. Her life revolved around family. She loved being surrounded by her grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Wayne Slocum, of Krotz Springs; her daughters, Dewanna Morrissey and husband, James Morrissey, III, of Shreveport; Susan Guidry and husband, Kerry Guidry of Krotz Springs; her son-in-law, Steven Halphen of Krotz Springs; 9 grandchildren, Sandra Ardoin and husband, Joseph, of Krotz Springs; Jason Halphen of Krotz Springs; Derek Guidry of Lafayette; James Morrissey, IV of Shreveport; Michael Morrissey and wife, Tiffany, of Salt Lake City, UT; Laurel Halphen of Opelousas; Daniel Morrissey of Shreveport; Hunter Guidry of Krotz Springs and Amy Morrissey of Shreveport; 3 great-grandchildren, Joseph Ardoin, II, Terry Ardoin and Rowan Halphen. She is also survived by her brothers, Johnny Ray, Jr. and wife, Barbara, of Krotz Springs; Charles Freddy Ray and wife, Elaine, of Port Barre; Douglas Ray and wife, Della, of Krotz Springs and Daniel Ray and wife, Rose, of Krotz Springs.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnny Ray, Sr. and Lurie Ray; her sisters, Betty Legros and Martha Ray; her daughter, Terri Halphen and her great-grandchildren, Matthew Ardoin and Job Halphen.

Visiting hours will be observed in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Krotz Springs on Friday, August 28, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. open all night until service time.
