Margaret Delahoussaye

Opelousas- Funeral services for Margaret Git Thomas Delahoussaye, age 86, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 3, 2008, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, followed by interment in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery. The Reverend Paul Bienvenu will officiate the services.

Margaret Delahoussaye, who was a resident of Opelousas, died at 12:06 p.m. on April 1, 2008 at Doctors Hospital of Opelousas.

Mrs. Delahoussaye was an active member with Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. She was a member of The Legion of Mary RosaryPrayer Group, St. Josephs Alter, Communion to Shut-ins, the Adoration Chapel, Good Samaritans and she was a Eucharistic Minister.

She is survived by her sons, Mitchell A. Delahoussaye and his wife, Nella, of Carencro, Keith Mark Delahoussaye of Opelousas, Stephen P. Delahoussaye of Opelousas; a daughter, Charlene D. Bridges and her husband, George, of Baton Rouge; a brother, Fred Thomas of New Iberia and her sisters, Shirley Romero of St. Martinville; Lucille Billeaud of Lafayette and Aline Oubre of Loreauville. She was also survived by 20 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Pete Delahoussaye; a son, Clarence P. Delahoussaye Pumpkin; a daughter, Alida D. Landry; a brother, R.L. Thomas, Jr.; sisters, Helen T. Trail and Milly Broussard and her parents, Raouzel and Alida Thomas.

Visitation will be held at the LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Wednesday, April 2, 2008 from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and will re-open at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday until service time. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
