Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas. A Rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. with a eulogy following.
Margaret enjoyed cooking and keeping a tidy house, which made being a homemaker her passion in life. For over thirty years, she was known by many as “Mimi”, as she opened her home and heart to many children as their day care provider. She loved those she took care of as if they were her own. It was apparent that same love was returned, because to this day, many of these children, who are now adults, would still come by for a visit or make a phone call to say hello and express their love and appreciation for her. Margaret will be deeply missed by her family and those who she cared for as if they were family too.
She is survived by her daughters, Sandra LeBlanc, of Opelousas and Sara Penland, of Opelousas; her brother, Herbert Comeaux and his wife, Teri, of Marksville; her sisters, Ludie Blanchard and companion, Tony Baden, of Alexandria and Dorothy Stelly, of Opelousas; her grandchildren, Daniel Penland, of Wyoming and Danielle Risk and husband, David, of Puerto Rico; her great-grandchildren, Jamison Phillips, Zenzie Penland, Waylon Risk and Ellis Risk; and a host of other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Ernest Meche; her parents, Clinus and Marie Comeaux; her brothers, Hilman Comeaux and Charles Ray Comeaux; her son-in-law, Paul LeBlanc; and brother-in-law, Earl Stelly.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Penland, Herbert Comeaux, David Risk, Tony Baden, Christopher Blanchard and Blake Andrus.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Louisiana Hospice and Pallative Care for their exceptional care for Mrs. Margaret.
