Marcus Leger

Marcus Leger was born on August 23, 1956, in Church Point, Louisiana, passed away on November 18, 2023, with his loving wife by his side.

Marcus was a beloved husband, father, step-father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He touched the lives of many with his kind heart and gentle spirit. His presence will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege to know him.

Marcus is survived by his wife, Gail G. Leger; his son, Ben G. Leger and wife, Hope; his mother, Martha B. Leger; his sister, Marlene Smith and husband, Ronald; his step-sons, Rusty G. Bourque and Thomas C. Bourque and his wife, Megan; his step-daughter, Cassie A. Bourque and significant other, Ian Vaughn.  He is also survived by his grandchildren, Lillian Leger, Ellie Leger, Abigail Bourque, Tucker Bourque, and Oliver Bourque. He was an exceptional grandfather who adored each and every one of them. Their laughter filled his heart with immeasurable happiness.

He was preceded in death by his father, Wilbert Joseph Leger and his niece, Kelly Smith.

In honor of Marcus's life, a series of events have been organized to celebrate his memory. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Grand Coteau beginning at 12:00 p.m.  A Rosary will be prayed at 1:00 p.m. and a eulogy will be held in Marcus’ honor at 1:15 p.m.  A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church at 1:30 p.m. and burial in Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas, Louisiana. 

While our hearts ache at the loss of such an extraordinary soul, we find solace in knowing that Marcus's spirit lives on through the memories we hold dear. May we remember him not with sadness and grief but with joy and gratitude for having had the privilege to share in his remarkable journey.
